Mercury has officially been retired from our breeding program following a recent veterinary evaluation that confirmed he has an undescended testicle (cryptorchidism). While this condition is not uncommon, it carries long‑term health risks if left unaddressed. After consulting with our veterinarian, we made the decision to neuter Mercury to ensure his continued comfort, safety, and well‑being.
At Queen City Coons, we are committed to responsible, ethical breeding practices. That means prioritizing the health of every cat in our care and maintaining the integrity of our pedigrees. Because cryptorchidism can have a hereditary component, retiring Mercury from breeding was the right choice for both him and the future of our lines.
Mercury had not yet sired any kittens, and his retirement does not alter the direction of our program. Our foundation queen, Aurora, is still young and growing, and we remain excited for the future she will help build once she reaches maturity. Her health, structure, and temperament continue to represent the vision behind Queen City Coons, and she will guide the next chapter of our pedigree when the time is right.
Mercury will remain here with us as a cherished companion—healthy, happy, and thoroughly adored. We are grateful for the joy he brings to our home and look forward to many years of loving his sweet, gentle personality.
