Welcome to Queen City Coons

Standard | Polydactyl | World Champion Bloodlines

Welcome to Queen City Coons — a small, home-based Maine Coon cattery nestled in the Charlotte area. Our love for this remarkable breed runs deep, and we take great pride in raising kittens that reflect the Maine Coon’s best qualities — affectionate, confident, and full of personality.

Each of our cats is part of our daily life, raised underfoot and surrounded by warmth, attention, and plenty of play. We’re expecting our first litters soon, and we’re so excited to share every step of the journey with you.

Whether you’re here to learn more about the breed, follow along with upcoming litters, or find your future companion, we’re happy you stopped by.

Red heart Our Story

We’re the family behind Queen City Coons, a small Maine Coon cattery located just outside the Charlotte metro area. Our hearts have always belonged to this remarkable breed that is so gentle, intelligent, and full of personality.

Our journey began with Mercury, our first Maine Coon and the inspiration behind it all – a sweet, polydactyl (77/66) black silver tabby with paws as big as his heart. Not long after came Aurora, our stunning queen from the renowned World Champion Gonsior line. Together, they’ve set the foundation for our dream: raising healthy, affectionate Maine Coons that embody the best of the breed.

At Queen City Coons, our cats live right alongside us in our home. They share our couch, sleep in our bed, and are socialized daily with family, friends, and our dog. They even have their own catio where they spend lazy afternoons birdwatching. Our cats are never caged or isolated — they’re family first, always.

Red heart Our Philosophy

We believe every kitten deserves the best possible start. At Queen City Coons, that means ethical, thoughtful breeding focused on health, temperament, and strong genetic lines. Our kittens are raised underfoot and socialized daily so they grow up confident, curious, and ready to thrive in their forever homes.

The name Queen City Coons reflects both our home in Charlotte – the Queen City – and our love of music, inspired by our boy Mercury, named after Freddie Mercury of Queen. Like the band, our cats are larger than life — bold, beautiful, and full of personality.

Frequently Asked Questions

We are currently expecting our first litters early 2026. We will post updates with expected dates and let you join our waitlist so you’re among the first notified. Make sure to follow our social media pages on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date on kitten announcements.

Our kittens are raised underfoot in our home just outside Charlotte. They share living spaces with us, our other cats, and our dog. They enjoy walks in their outdoor catio, cozy indoor naps, and plenty of personal attention. When they go to their new homes, they will be confident, curious, and well-adjusted.

We believe in ethical breeding with a focus on health and longevity. Parents are health-tested for breed-specific conditions (such as HCM, SMA, PKDef) and we will provide documentation. Each kitten goes home with age-appropriate vaccinations, a vet wellness check, and our written health guarantee.

Every kitten comes with:
  • A clean bill of health from our veterinarian.
  • Age-appropriate vaccinations and de-worming.
  • TICA registration (either pet or breeder rights, depending on the contract).
  • A starter kit (blanket, toy, feeding instructions).
  • Lifetime breeder support from us — we’re here for you anytime.

  • Pet-quality: No breeding rights. Ideal for families seeking a loving lifelong companion.
  • Premium: May include rare colors or patterns, polydactyl trait, or other special features. Some breeder rights may be possible with additional contract and approval.

Once you choose a kitten or place on the waitlist, the deposit secures your place. Before pickup we’ll coordinate the final payment and schedule the pick-up day. At the time of pick up, we will provide all health records and TICA registration forms if applicable. We ask that you have your home ready and meet the contract terms we provide.

If you need to delay pickup, just let us know early and we’ll work with you. The deposit remains non-refundable, but it may be transferable to a future litter if mutually agreed.

We stand behind the health of our kittens. If a serious genetic health issue is diagnosed within the guarantee period, we will work with you to provide support or replacement, according to the conditions in our contract.

We remain available for you for the lifetime of your cat. Whether you have questions about nutrition, grooming, behavior, or anything else — we’re just a call or message away. Our goal is lifelong relationships with our kitten families, not just the moment of sale.

At Queen City Coons, our health guarantee covers congenital or genetic defects that significantly impair quality of life or lifespan. Once your kitten comes home, we require a licensed veterinarian exam by 5 business days to validate the guarantee. If by that time a qualifying condition is found and meets the contract criteria, we will offer a replacement kitten or refund according to the terms in our contract. Routine illnesses, parasites, or non-genetic conditions (such as accident or outdoor exposure) are excluded.

We keep the waitlist open to all approved applicants — there is no strict cap on the number of families we accept. However, we move through the list in the order applications/deposits are received and approved. This means that being early gives you better selection priority.

When it’s your turn to reserve a kitten, we will contact you via email and/or phone. You’ll have 48 hours to respond with whether you want to reserve the available kitten(s). If we don’t hear back within that time, we will move to the next person on the list. You will retain your waitlist position but may move down relative to other active responders.

If all kittens from a litter are reserved before we reach your turn, you’ll remain on the waitlist for the next available litter. We’ll notify you of upcoming expected litters and keep you informed of your position. Your deposit will carry forward — there’s no need to pay again unless you are removed for inactivity or choose to withdraw.

That’s perfectly fine — you may “pass” on that litter and remain on the waitlist with your original position intact (unless you decline multiple consecutive litters, at which point we may ask whether you still wish to remain active). You can wait for the next litter and still keep your priority. If you decide to withdraw entirely, we’ll follow the deposit policy described in our contract.

Yes. When you apply and join the waitlist you’ll have the chance to tell us preferred colors, patterns or traits (for example, polydactyl). While we do our best to match preferences and plan breedings accordingly, we cannot guarantee specific color, gender or trait combinations because genetics, litter sizes, and outcomes vary. Should your preferred trait not appear in a given litter, you’ll retain your spot for the next one.

We accept the following payment methods: bank (ACH) transfer, certified check, or PayPal Friends/Family (for resident U.S. buyers). The non-refundable deposit to secure your place on the waitlist/kitten is due once your application is approved (see pricing list). Final payment is due at the time of pickup or before transport. Please note: shipping/transport costs are separate and paid by the buyer in advance.

Yes. Every prospective adopter must complete our Kitten Application Form and receive approval before being placed on the waitlist. This helps us ensure each kitten goes to a responsible, loving home and that we’re aligned in expectations (care, environment, etc.). Once the application is approved, you may submit the non-refundable deposit to secure your spot.

Yes. As part of our application review we ask for the contact information of your current veterinarian (if applicable). We may contact your vet to confirm your previous pet care history, ensure vaccinations and general wellness were kept up, and verify you are a fit match for one of our Maine Coon kittens. This is standard practice in responsible breeding.

Kittens typically leave between 12–16 weeks of age, depending on maturity and veterinarian clearance. This allows enough time for vaccinations, socialization, and proper development.

Yes. All pet-quality kittens will be spayed or neutered prior to going home when age and weight allow. If surgery must be delayed for health or developmental reasons, we require proof of alteration by a licensed veterinarian within the timeframe outlined in your contract.

All pet-quality kittens from Queen City Coons are sold on a strict spay/neuter agreement. This means your kitten must be altered by the date listed in your contract (usually within 6–9 months of age, depending on your veterinarian’s recommendation).
If proof of spay/neuter is not provided by that date, the health guarantee becomes void, and the breeder reserves the right to pursue contract enforcement — which may include revoking registration papers or legal recovery of the cat.
We take this seriously because responsible breeding protects the Maine Coon breed and prevents unplanned litters. Compliance is required to remain in good standing with our cattery.

Every kitten receives age-appropriate core vaccinations, deworming, and a full veterinary exam before pick up. You will also receive a health record from our vet to take to your own veterinarian as reference.

No. Breeding rights are granted only to approved, ethical breeders who share our values and maintain appropriate health testing standards. These rights are not available for pet homes and are issued on a limited basis at our discretion.

We share regular updates and photos on our social media pages once the kittens are born. When it is your turn to choose, we will contact you directly to discuss available kittens that fit your preferences.

Occasionally, a kitten may need extra time for growth, vaccination schedule, socialization or to complete a payment arrangement. If that happens we will keep you informed and continue to care for the kitten at no additional cost until they’re cleared to go home.

Life happens, and we understand. If you can no longer care for your Queen City Coons kitten or cat, please contact us first. We will always help with rehoming to ensure every cat remains safe and loved - no questions asked.

We do not ship kittens via cargo, however, we can help you arrange a flight nanny or ground transport with a trusted courier, at your (the buyers) expense. For most families, we prefer to meet in person within 150 miles of Charlotte on adoption day.

Please bring a secure carrier, and a small blanket, towel or item of clothing from your home that they can start getting acclimated to on the drive home.

Email us anytime at info@queencitycoons.com or message us on social media for quick questions or updates.
